The Israeli military has declared two towns near the Lebanon border as “closed military zones” following air and ground strikes. The decision comes amid continued clashes with Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.

  • Details of announcement: Israel’s military stated that the move to designate the towns of Metula and Kfar Yuval as “closed military zones” was made after assessments related to attacks on southern Lebanon. The decision restricts civilian access to areas where further clashes could occur. The military specified that this restriction will remain in effect until tomorrow night.

  • Israel’s ongoing military operations: The Israeli army has been engaged in controlled clashes with Hezbollah since October 8, 2023. On September 23, the Israeli military launched hundreds of airstrikes on southern Lebanese cities, as well as the Bekaa and Baalbek regions. Hezbollah has retaliated with rocket and missile attacks, mainly targeting Israeli military bases. No major damage has been reported from these strikes.
  • Rising tensions: This decision highlights the ongoing escalation of tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, with both sides intensifying military actions along the border.
