Israeli forces kill two Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades leaders in West Bank raid
Israeli forces killed two leaders of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades, the armed wing of the Palestinian Fatah movement, during a military operation in the northern West Bank on Wednesday.
Thair Omar Amara and Mamoun Saleh Shreim died when Israeli troops stormed a house in the city of Tulkarem’s Izbat al-Jarad neighborhood. Witnesses reported that Israeli forces surrounded the house before withdrawing from the area. Palestinian news agency WAFA confirmed the deaths and stated that a young man and a child were injured during the raid, including Amara’s son, who was present at the time.
According to the Palestine Red Crescent Society, two individuals were transported to a hospital after being handed over by Israeli forces. One of the injured, aged 30, was shot in the shoulder, while a child suffered shrapnel wounds to the head.
Israeli military vehicles entered Tulkarem from the western entrance earlier in the day, while a special unit took position in Izbat al-Jarad, the site of the raid. The Israeli forces reportedly surrounded the house and demanded those inside surrender through loudspeakers. Drones flew overhead as intense gunfire ensued. Official Palestine TV aired footage of the Israeli military vehicles advancing toward the targeted house.
In a separate incident, Israeli forces raided the village of Deir Qaddis, west of Ramallah, where they allegedly blocked medical teams from the Palestinian Red Crescent from accessing the area. The forces also confiscated communication equipment from the medics, according to local witnesses.
