Why are Turkish actor Kivanc Tatlitug, family moving to London?

Kivanc Tatlitug, a widely admired actor in Türkiye, and his wife, stylist Basak Dizer, recently decided to move to London.

The couple reportedly made this move to ensure their young son, Kurt Efe, receives an early education in the U.K. Tatlitug and Dizer rented a home for a year, paying a full year’s rent upfront, after an unsuccessful search for a property to purchase in the British capital.

The decision to move comes as Tatlitug and Dizer prepare for their son to start school. Reports indicate that they considered buying a home in London, but after failing to find a property they felt was suitable, they chose to rent instead.

According to local media, they secured a home with a monthly rent of $5,000, or about ₺175,000, and paid a full year in advance, totaling approximately ₺2 million. Kivanc Tatlitug and Basak Dizer “chose London to offer Kurt Efe a strong start in education,” reported Hurriyet.

Tatlitug and Dizer’s move to London does not mean they will be leaving their life in Istanbul permanently. Although their primary residence will be in the U.K. for the time being, they intend to return to Türkiye for part of the year.

The family has not disclosed specific plans, but sources suggest that they will divide their time between both locations to maintain ties to Türkiye. This move allows them to continue their work while investing in their son’s education abroad.

Besides settling his family in London, Tatlitug also plans to pursue a long-held personal goal: expanding his culinary skills. The actor also “plans to study culinary arts and deepen his knowledge of cooking.”
