Fenerbahce in talks with Napoli for Galatasaray’s loaned player Victor Osimhen
Fenerbahce is reportedly in negotiations with Napoli regarding the potential transfer of Victor Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray. Fenerbahce’s Sporting Director, Mario Branco, is said to have contacted Napoli’s Sporting Director, Giovanni Manna, to discuss the terms of his transfer.
Napoli is reportedly demanding 75 million euros (approximately $79.5 million), with 25 million euros (approximately $26.5 million) of that fee to be paid upfront.
Fenerbahce joins the race for Osimhen
Victor Osimhen has become a fan favorite at Galatasaray, having scored 6 goals and provided 4 assists in 8 appearances this season. The 25-year-old Nigerian forward has expressed his happiness at the club and has said he wishes to stay until the end of the season. However, Fenerbahce’s interest has complicated the situation, leaving Osimhen’s future uncertain.
Napoli has reportedly set his price tag at 75 million euros (approximately $79.5 million). However, Fenerbahce is preparing to make a higher offer, potentially surpassing Galatasaray’s rumored bid of 50 million euros (approximately $53 million). This could intensify the competition for the striker’s signature.
Napoli demands significant fee for Osimhen’s transfer
Last week, Napoli’s Sporting Director Giovanni Manna said, “If Galatasaray does not pay the net fee of $82 million, they will not be able to keep Victor.” He pointed out that several clubs are interested in Victor Osimhen, reinforcing Napoli’s aim to sell the player permanently.
Before loaning him to Galatasaray, Napoli had already reduced Victor Osimhen’s release clause from $141 million to $98 million for winter and to $82 million for the summer.
Other clubs also interested in Osimhen
Along with Fenerbahce and Galatasaray, other top clubs such as Chelsea, Arsenal and Newcastle United, as well as Saudi Arabian team Al Hilal, are also said to be interested in signing Osimhen.
He played a crucial role in Napoli’s 2022/2023 Serie A title win, ending a 33-year championship drought for the club.
His partnership with winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was key to his success, as he scored 26 goals and provided 5 assists that season, solidifying his reputation as one of Europe’s top forwards.
