Pakistan’s newly-elected Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the need for Ankara and Islamabad to collaborate toward achieving their annual target of $5 billion in bilateral trade.

During a meeting with Turkish Ambassador Mehmet Pacaci at the Prime Minister’s office in Islamabad, Sharif urged both sides to boost cooperation across various sectors such as trade, defense, connectivity and culture, as per an official statement.

Highlighting the longstanding support between Pakistan and Türkiye on key matters, Sharif expressed confidence in continuing this solidarity in the future.

He also commended Türkiye on the successful flight of their indigenous 5th generation fighter aircraft, KAAN, and thanked President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for his congratulatory call after Sharif’s re-election.

Renewing his invitation for Erdogan to visit Islamabad, Sharif mentioned the anticipation among Pakistanis for the visit, which would also facilitate extensive discussions during the 7th session of the High-Level Strategic Coordination Council.

Ambassador Pacaci, on his part, congratulated Sharif on his re-election, conveyed warm regards from Türkiye’s leadership and stressed the significance of fortifying the fraternal bonds between the two countries.
