Boeing sets sights on Türkiye for exciting aerospace collaborations
Boeing eyes strategic alliances in Türkiye, capitalizing on the country’s advantageous aviation ecosystem
In a strategic move aimed at fostering new collaborations, U.S. aircraft manufacturer Boeing is directing its focus toward Türkiye, where the company has already established suppliers with a substantial business volume of $2.5 billion over the past decade.
Aysem Sargin, Boeing’s country executive for Türkiye and Central Asia, revealed the company’s focus on fostering new partnerships in the region. “Türkiye’s robust aviation ecosystem provides a strategic advantage for Boeing,” emphasized Sargin, signaling Boeing’s keen interest in furthering its engagement within Türkiye’s dynamic aerospace landscape.
Sargin highlighted the optimistic outlook for Türkiye’s aviation sector, noting its resilience and recovery since 2022 after the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. “Türkiye has swiftly rebounded, positioning itself as one of the fastest-recovering countries in terms of passenger traffic. The proactive response to the evolving needs of the aviation industry is commendable,” she stated, acknowledging Türkiye’s adaptability in the dynamic aviation market.
Engineering capabilities, positive growth prospects
Highlighting Türkiye’s strong aviation and defense industry, Sargin acknowledged its crucial role in the global supply chain. She remarked, “Depending on global demand, the more airplanes made, the more our companies in Türkiye involved in the supply chain will produce, and the more they will export.”
Sargin emphasized Türkiye’s high engineering capability, predicting increased work for Turkish engineers as aviation production rises and new technologies are adopted. She believes this is a positive development for Türkiye, offering both know-how expansion and consistent capital inflow to support long-term investments, ultimately enhancing its competitiveness on the international stage.
Looking ahead, Sargin expects growth of Istanbul Airport, citing Türkiye’s excellent geographical position and its remarkable growth in various aviation-related areas over the past decade.
Strategic collaborations, future prospects
Boeing has maintained strong ties with suppliers in Türkiye, resulting in a business volume of $2.5 billion in the last decade. Sargin expressed the company’s keen interest in exploring additional collaborations in Türkiye in the coming period.
As Sargin pointed out the growth potential in Central Asia, she emphasized the region’s increasing connectivity with the world. Türkiye, being a significant partner in the region, holds cultural and historical roots that align with Central Asia. Sargin added, “Boeing can play a good role here, and Türkiye is certainly a very important bridge to Central Asia.”
