Türkiye’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloglu, announced that Turkish airports handled over 20.9 million passengers in October, marking a 4.5% increase compared to the same period in 2023.

According to data shared by Minister Uraloglu, total air traffic reached 42,000 flights at Istanbul Airport alone, with 9,000 domestic and 32,000 international flights. Passenger numbers at Istanbul Airport totaled 6.8 million, with 1.4 million on domestic flights and 5.4 million on international routes, reflecting a 3% rise in passenger traffic over the same month in 2023.

Sabiha Gokcen Airport accommodated 20,000 flights, including 9,000 domestic and 11,000 international. Passenger numbers at Sabiha Gokcen reached 3.4 million, with 1.6 million on domestic and 1.8 million on international flights, representing a 6% increase over the same month in 2023.

Minister Uraloglu also noted a 5.1% rise in total aircraft traffic nationwide. From January through October, Türkiye’s airports served over 198 million passengers, comprising 80.7 million on domestic flights and 117.3 million on international flights.

Compared to the same 10-month period last year, this marks an overall increase of 7.2%, with a 5.2% rise in domestic passengers and an 8.8% increase in international travelers.

Additionally, the total cargo handled across Turkish airports reached 4 million tons, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 10.9%.
