Nobel laureate Acemoglu, global experts to gather at Brand Week Istanbul 2024
Brand Week Istanbul 2024, an important event for the business, marketing and creative industries, will run from Nov. 4 to 8 at Istanbul’s Halic Congress Center.
Now in its 12th year, the event focuses on the theme “The Beginning of a History” and brings a wide range of workshops, panel discussions, film readings and networking sessions.
More than 300 speakers will take the stage across 10+ platforms. Daron Acemoglu, who won this year’s Nobel Prize in Economics, will deliver his first speech after receiving the award on Nov. 6. “The Beginning of a History” is also the title of his presentation.
Opening remarks by mayor of Istanbul and cultural insights
Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu will kick off Brand Week Istanbul 2024 with the opening speech. Later on the same day, Laia Gasch, director of the World Cities Culture Forum, will discuss the significance of culture in urban environments and how it can elevate individual lives. She will deliver a talk on how to integrate cultural elements effectively into city living.
Brand Week Istanbul 2024 to focus on women in business, creative industries
Brand Week Istanbul will continue its tradition of focusing on women’s roles in business and the creative sectors.
Demet Evgar, U.N. Women Türkiye Goodwill ambassador, will present her session “Women, womanhoods, a history beyond limits” in Brand Week Istanbul 2024, where she will explore the future of women in media, cinema and communication.
On Nov. 6, the “Women who make a difference” awards will celebrate young, influential women who inspire others through their achievements and leadership.
Artificial intelligence takes center stage with expert insights
Artificial intelligence (AI) will be a central focus at this year’s event. Daniel Hulme, chief AI officer at WPP, will share his thoughts on the impact of AI on work and human life.
Philosopher Riccardo Manzotti will pose and address the question, “Are conscious machines possible?” Mathieu Albrand, global innovation director at marketing firm McCann Worldgroup, will discuss where the world of branding is headed with AI solutions.
Speakers will also discuss the steps Türkiye needs to take in AI development and strategy. Over three days, executives, academics and industry practitioners will present their views on how Türkiye should approach AI technology.
Insights into creativity, media and influence of humor
Notable speakers such as Mark Adams, digital strategist for U.S. Democratic Party Presidential candidate Kamala Harris, and Sophie Devonshire, CEO of The Marketing Society, will discuss communication and creativity. Paul Kemp-Robertson, chief content officer of the annual advertising award festival Cannes Lions, will also provide his insights.
This year’s event will feature a focus on humor, with Ata Demirer as the “Guest of Honor.” Other comedians, including Hasan Can Kaya, Tom Fishburne, and Ibrahim Buyukak, will explore humor’s power in different contexts.
Top Turkish media figures, notable celebrities on stage
Key figures from the media world, such as journalist Fatih Altayli and podcaster Nilay Ornek, will engage in discussions about the evolving landscape of media.
Celebrities like Kenan Dogulu, Hazal Kaya and Kerem Bursin will appear in panels and presentations, adding star power to Brand Week Istanbul 2024.
Hands-on learning, strategic knowledge for attendees
Brand Week Istanbul 2024 attendees can look forward to workshops and certification programs. The P&G Brand Academy will offer sessions where participants can learn about the latest in branding and marketing from Türkiye’s top experts.
The Healing Hall, led by pharmacist Adile Ozdag, will host discussions on consumer health solutions. Experts such as Dr. Ozgur Bolat and Prof. Dr. Esin Senol will speak about innovative approaches to well-being.
