Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) has announced the commencement of butter imports from Türkiye.

This decision comes in response to rising butter prices in Russia, prompting the Ministry of Agriculture to implement a series of measures.

According to Rosselkhoznadzor’s statement to the Russian media, butter imports from Türkiye began on Oct. 27, with a total of 20 tons imported by Oct. 29.

Measures against rising butter prices

The Ministry of Agriculture has previously indicated its intention to take steps to address the increasing butter prices in the country.

In a statement to the Russian News Agency (TASS) from the “Russian Union,” an organization that unites food producers and suppliers, it was noted that rising milk prices, along with increased logistics and packaging costs, have negatively impacted butter prices.
