Chinese automaker BYD has appointed former Stellantis U.K. chief Maria Grazia Davino to lead its operations in Europe. Davino will serve as regional director, overseeing activities in Germany, Switzerland, Poland, Austria and the Czech Republic.

This appointment comes as BYD expands its distribution network across Europe.

Details

  • Davino will be instrumental in consolidating BYD’s operations in Europe during a time of significant growth.
  • The company is establishing factories in Hungary and Türkiye to boost its local manufacturing capacity. The Türkiye factory aims to enhance BYD’s presence in the European market while also creating local employment opportunities.
  • The facility in Türkiye will be a key part of BYD’s production and distribution strategy in the region.
  • In August, BYD hired former Fiat Chrysler executive Alfredo Altavilla as a special advisor for Europe.
  • Davino’s role is set to officially begin on Dec. 1.
  • Additionally, BYD has appointed Stellantis’ sales vice president for Italy as the new country manager for Italy and Peugeot’s managing director for Spain and Portugal as its new head of Spain.

As BYD continues to make strategic appointments to strengthen its presence in Europe, the new factory in Türkiye marks a significant step in its expansion plans, enhancing both production capabilities and regional influence.
