Türkiye commended the peaceful conclusion of Uzbekistan’s parliamentary elections, which took place on Sunday.

In a statement issued by the Turkish Foreign Ministry on Monday, Türkiye highlighted its support for Uzbekistan during this pivotal moment in the country’s democratic process.

Türkiye monitors elections in ‘brotherly’ Uzbekistan

“We are pleased that the Oliy Majlis elections in Uzbekistan, held on 27 October 2024, have been concluded peacefully,” the Foreign Ministry said. Observers from Türkiye were part of the international teams monitoring the elections, underscoring Türkiye’s commitment to supporting fair and transparent electoral processes in Uzbekistan.

“We hope that the results of the elections, which observers from Türkiye also monitored, will benefit brotherly Uzbekistan.” Turkish Foreign Ministry added.

Uzbekistan’s ruling party is reportedly leading in the elections, according to the country’s election authority.
