Turkish aid agency delivers 25 tons of essential food aid to Gaza amid escalating humanitarian crisis, assisting 2,500 displaced families during Ramadan

The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) has initiated the delivery of 25 tons of essential food aid to the Gaza Strip, which has faced severe attacks by Israel since Oct. 7, 2023.

With the humanitarian crisis escalating in the blockaded Gaza, TIKA continues its aid operations, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.

Since the conflict began, TIKA has been providing support in the form of food, health, and shelter materials to the region.

During Ramadan, TIKA has started distributing food packages to 2,500 displaced families in the Deir El-Balah, Rafah and Az-Zawayda regions of the Gaza Strip.

The food packages, comprising staples such as cooking oil, rice, tomato paste, beans, hummus, lentils, pasta, canned meat and fish, aim to assist those affected by the ongoing situation.

Following a cross-border incursion by Hamas on Oct. 7, 2023, which resulted in nearly 1,200 deaths, Israel has launched a deadly military offensive in Gaza.

The conflict has led to devastating consequences, with over 31,726 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, killed in the enclave, and nearly 73,792 others injured.

This has occurred amid significant destruction and shortages of vital resources.

As a result of the Israeli offensive, 85% of Gaza’s population has been internally displaced, facing challenges due to a severe blockade on access to essential supplies such as food, clean water and medicine.

Additionally, 60% of the enclave’s infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed, according to the U.N.

Israel faces accusations of genocide at the International Court of Justice, with an interim ruling in January ordering Tel Aviv to cease genocidal acts and ensure the provision of humanitarian assistance to civilians in Gaza.
