The Turkish Cabinet, led by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, is set to convene today. The primary focus of the meeting will be counterterrorism efforts, regional tensions, and the country’s economic outlook, according to official reports.

Terrorism, security operations to be reviewed

A key topic for discussion will be the recent terrorist attack on Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI).

The cabinet will thoroughly assess the details of the attack, claimed by PKK terrorists, and review ongoing counterterrorism operations both within Türkiye and across its borders in northern Iraq and Syria.

The meeting will also evaluate the latest intelligence on operations by the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) and the National Intelligence Organization (MIT) targeting PKK/YPG positions in the region.

Middle East tensions and regional developments

Another major agenda item will be the escalating tensions in the Middle East, particularly Israel’s military actions in Gaza and Lebanon.

The Cabinet is expected to discuss strategies to address these developments, including possible diplomatic actions. Ankara has already condemned the Israeli airstrikes in Iran, emphasizing the potential for a wider regional conflict.

Economic policies and inflation goals

On the economic front, the cabinet will review Türkiye’s efforts to reduce inflation to single digits. Economic policy discussions will include measures to improve investment, employment, and price stability.

Additionally, the cabinet will address issues such as stockpiling, price gouging, and penalties for those exploiting the current economic situation. The progress of post-earthquake reconstruction in affected regions will also be a key topic.
