ASELSAN introduces DUFAS, Türkiye’s inaugural over-the-horizon anti-submarine warfare sonar system

ASELSAN introduced Türkiye’s first domestic and national over-the-horizon anti-submarine warfare sonar, the Low-Frequency Active Sonar System (DUFAS) with its utterly original technology.

According to ASELSAN’s statement, DUFAS, developed in line with the needs of the Naval Forces Command under the leadership of the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB), enables the detection of underwater threats such as submarines and torpedoes from long distances.

DUFAS strengthens the Turkish navy’s power in the Blue Homeland with its superior technology and depth-changeable active and passive sonar capabilities.

DUFAS is the first and only towed active sonar system that was designed and produced domestically.

It broadcasts acoustic signals through active sonar components.

DUFAS, which creates an underwater tactical picture by collecting the reflections of the broadcast signal from the targets with a passive sonar, enables the detection and tracking of underwater threats at a long range and with high accuracy.

Enemy submarines no longer threat to Turkish navy

Drawing attention with its sonar performance modeling ability, DUFAS stands out with its architecture suitable for bistatic/multi-static operation.

With the technical features of DUFAS, enemy submarines are no longer a threat to the Turkish navy.

The system developed by ASELSAN detects threats such as submarines and torpedoes by listening to ambient noise in passive sonar mode.

DUFAS also eliminated the risk by activating countermeasure equipment when it detects a torpedo threat.

In his post on the subject, President of the Presidency of Defense Industries professor Haluk Gorgun said: “DUFAS, which can effectively detect submarines and torpedoes with its directional scanning capability, will strengthen the power of our glorious navy.”
