Israeli Defense Ministry shares old images during attacks on Iran
Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Gallant‘s office released an image purportedly showing an aerial view of the strikes conducted by the Israeli army on Iranian military targets.
However, it has emerged that the image is from a refinery fire in Tehran in 2021, raising questions about the accuracy of the released footage.
Airstrikes target Iranian missile sites
The Israeli military has confirmed that it conducted targeted airstrikes on missile manufacturing facilities and air defense systems in Iran as part of retaliatory operations following Tehran’s Oct. 1 missile strike on Israel.
The Israeli army stated that the strikes targeted critical military infrastructure across multiple regions, including Tehran, and that all Israeli aircraft returned safely.
Questions regarding use of misinformation
The release of an old image, particularly one unrelated to the recent strikes, has raised concerns about potential misinformation or communication errors in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran.
Analysts have pointed out the importance of transparency, especially during sensitive military operations that involve potential regional escalation.
