UK, Latin American nations condemn terrorist attack on Turkish Aerospace Industries

Serbia and the United Kingdom issued statements Wednesday condemning a terrorist attack on Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) headquarters in Ankara, which left five people dead and 22 others injured. The attack, which occurred in Türkiye’s Kahramankazan district, has drawn widespread international condemnation, with many nations expressing solidarity with Türkiye.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic shared his concern on social media platform X. “I am extremely concerned about the news of the terrorist attack in Ankara,” Vucic wrote. “Serbia condemns all forms of terrorism and stands in solidarity with Türkiye and its people during these difficult times.” He extended condolences to the victims’ families and wished a swift recovery to the injured.

Similarly, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed his shock over the attack. “We stand shoulder to shoulder with Türkiye as a NATO ally and close friend,” Starmer wrote on X. “Our thoughts are with the families of the victims and all those affected.”

Latin American nations voice their condemnation

Several Latin American nations, including Venezuela, Mexico, Colombia, and Cuba, also condemned the attack and offered condolences.

Venezuela’s government released a statement on social media, condemning the attack and reaffirming its support for Türkiye. “Venezuela, once again, rejects terrorism and all forms of violence aimed at causing fear and unrest among civilians,” the statement read. It also expressed hope that the perpetrators would not go unpunished.

Mexico’s Foreign Ministry condemned the attack on its website, reiterating its stance against all acts of violence that threaten international peace and security. The statement expressed Mexico’s condolences to the Turkish people and government and wished for the speedy recovery of those injured.

Colombia’s Foreign Ministry took to X, denouncing the “cowardly” attack on TAI’s headquarters, offering condolences to the victims’ families and wishing the injured a fast recovery. Cuba’s Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez also condemned the attack on X, writing, “Cuba is in solidarity with the people of Türkiye following the terrorist attack in Ankara. My deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and best wishes for a quick recovery to those injured.”
