Israeli airstrikes destroy Al Mayadeen news office in southern Beirut
Israeli warplanes conducted airstrikes in the southern suburbs of Beirut, targeting several areas, including the office of Lebanon-based Al Mayadeen television channel, according to Lebanon’s official news agency, NNA.
The strikes, which occurred in the evening, hit Dahiye, a neighborhood known for being a Hezbollah stronghold, with a total of 10 airstrikes reported in the region and surrounding areas. Four of the strikes specifically targeted civilian residential blocks near the El-Leyleki district, completely destroying the buildings and causing a fire to break out, the NNA reported.
Among the targets was the Al Mayadeen office in the El-Janah area near Dahiye. The office was hit by two missiles, resulting in its complete destruction, and another fire broke out at the site. The channel’s management had evacuated the office before the attack, according to the report.
While multiple areas in and around Dahiye were struck, the NNA did not provide information on any casualties resulting from the airstrikes.
The region has experienced heightened tensions in recent weeks, but the scope and intensity of the air raids are among the most significant attacks on Beirut’s southern suburbs in recent memory. No statement has been issued by the Israeli Defense Forces regarding the incident as of yet.
