Turkish defense industry firm FNSS Defense Systems will export armored personnel carriers (APC) to the Indonesian Armed Forces.

FNSS CEO Nail Kurt announced the development at the SAHA EXPO Defense, Aviation, and Aerospace Industry Fair in Istanbul, stating that the company has signed a deal with Indonesia’s PT Pindad for the production of these vehicles. The agreement follows the successful delivery of the Kaplan MT tank to the Indonesian Army.

Production timeline, key specifications

According to Kurt’s statement, the project will result in two APCs: one built in Türkiye by FNSS and the other in Indonesia by PT Pindad. “2025 will focus on design and prototyping, while 2026 will involve testing. By the end of 2026, we aim to deliver both vehicles to the Indonesian Army,” said Kurt.

High-speed Kaplan APC to enhance combat capability

The new Kaplan APC is designed to be a powerful force multiplier on the battlefield. The vehicle will carry a crew of 13, including the driver, commander, and gunner. Featuring an advanced suspension system, the Kaplan will reduce interior vibrations and enhance road handling. It will also come equipped with a combat management system that offers 360-degree situational awareness via integrated cameras, available day and night.

The Kaplan APC will be the fastest in its class, boasting a top speed of over 70 kilometers per hour. It will include options for active protection systems to defend against anti-tank missiles and shoulder-fired rockets. Additionally, the vehicle will support manned or unmanned turret systems and a wide range of weapons.
