Erdogan, Putin to meet in BRICS summit in Kazan

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Russian President Vladimir Putin are scheduled to meet on Wednesday in Kazan to discuss a joint natural gas hub project in Türkiye, according to Russian officials.
Leaders to focus on gas hub initiative in Türkiye
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Yuri Ushakov confirmed that President Putin and President Erdogan will hold a bilateral meeting in Kazan, with the main focus on the planned natural gas hub in Türkiye.
The project is seen as a significant development in energy cooperation between the two nations.
Putin to host multiple leaders at BRICS Summit
Ushakov also announced that this meeting will take place ahead of the BRICS Summit, scheduled from Oct. 22 to 24 in Kazan.
In addition to Erdogan, Putin is expected to meet with other prominent leaders, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
High-profile discussions on energy and geopolitics
The natural gas hub project, which could strengthen Türkiye’s position in the global energy market, is anticipated to be the primary focus of discussions between Erdogan and Putin.
The leaders may also touch on broader regional and global issues, particularly concerning energy security and geopolitical relations.
