The licenses of nine hospitals in Istanbul have been revoked as part of an investigation into the so-called “newborn gang,” a group accused of involvement in the deaths of 10 infants. Authorities continue to inspect hospitals linked to the gang.

The newborn gang is accused of profiting from referrals of newborns to partner hospitals, where improper care and negligence allegedly led to their deaths. One of the hospitals implicated, Ozel Reyap Hospital in Corlu, Tekirdag, has had its license revoked, and its patients will be discharged.

The Ministry of Health revoked the licenses of nine hospitals in Istanbul after reviewing the investigation report. If the hospitals are found guilty, their assets may be seized, and they could face permanent closure.
