Turkish security forces eliminated four terrorists in Iraq’s northern Qandil region, and police in Türkiye detained 12 individuals suspected of having ties to the Daesh terrorist group

Turkish security forces eliminated 4 terrorists in Iraq’s northern Qandil region, as stated by the National Defense Ministry on Friday.

“Our operations will continue without interruption,” the ministry stated.

The PKK terrorists often seek refuge in northern Iraq to plan cross-border attacks into Türkiye.

In its terror campaign against Türkiye spanning over 35 years, the PKK – recognized as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the U.S., and the EU – has caused the deaths of more than 40,000 individuals, including women, children, and infants.

Separately on Friday, Turkish security sources reported that police in Türkiye have detained 12 individuals suspected of having ties to the Daesh terrorist group.

According to the sources, the Terrorism and Organized Crime Investigation Bureau of the Istanbul Prosecutor’s Office uncovered evidence linking the suspects to terrorist activities associated with Daesh. The sources, who requested anonymity due to media communication restrictions, stated that Turkish police teams conducted an operation following the issuance of warrants by prosecutors, resulting in the apprehension of the 12 suspects.

Türkiye designated Daesh as a terrorist organization in 2013, becoming one of the first countries to do so.

Since then, the country has faced numerous attacks by the terrorist group, resulting in the deaths of over 300 people and injuries to hundreds more. These attacks included at least 10 suicide bombings, seven bomb attacks, and four armed assaults.
