President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called for the implementation of a comprehensive arms embargo against Israel during a meeting with Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit, stressing that such measures are crucial to increasing pressure on the country.

Erdogan, continuing his diplomatic efforts to ease tensions in the Middle East, warned that the conflict could spread across the region.

“President Erdogan stressed that imposing a comprehensive arms embargo is necessary to increase pressure,” the Turkish Communications Directorate stated on X, following his meeting with Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit.

Erdogan warned that Israel is attempting to spread “the flames of conflict” across the Middle East, aiming to leave Palestinians “landless in their homeland.” The meeting addressed regional and global issues, including Israel’s attacks on Palestinian and Lebanese territories, the statement added.

He reiterated Türkiye’s ongoing diplomatic initiatives aimed at holding Israel accountable for its actions, underscoring that an arms embargo would significantly heighten pressure on the country.

The Turkish president also addressed broader regional issues, calling for an immediate resolution to conflicts in Syria, Libya, Somalia, and Ethiopia. He highlighted the importance of restoring peace, stability, and security in these regions.
