Marmaris Castle hosts Turkish Cuisine Week exhibiting centuries-old recipes
Various events were organized in the historical museum castle of Mugla’s Marmaris district during May 21-27 celebrated as Turkish Cuisine Week.
At the events, which were attended by local and foreign tourists, centuries-old Turkish cuisine dishes were served along with exciting folklore performances and music concerts.
The event started with a moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem at Marmaris Castle. Then, the menus created by the chefs of 7 5-star hotels in the district from the book “Turkish Cuisine with Centuries-old Recipes” were exhibited.
After the folklore performances of the District Public Education Center Directorate Folklore team and primary school students, the food was served to the guests.
Speaking at the event, Marmaris District Governor Nurullah Kaya said: “We have come together today to show a little bit of Turkish cuisine in our Marmaris. This event will continue throughout the week with our skillful cooks and chefs. Today, we will have a tasting event here. The flavors and recipes of sustainable Turkish cuisine will be passed on to future generations,” he said, thanking all the institutions, organizations and hotels that supported the event.
The British guests who attended the event and tasted various Turkish dishes said that they found the food delicious and full of taste and that they already loved Turkish cuisine.
The event, held at Marmaris Castle Museum, included participants from the city protocol, academicians, chambers, British tourists and local tourists staying in hotels in the district.
