Türkiye experiences a significant increase in foreign tourist arrivals for February, with Istanbul leading the influx
Türkiye witnessed a notable surge in foreign tourist arrivals for February, with a 23% increase compared to the previous year, reaching a total of 2.3 million visitors, as per official data released on Friday.
“Istanbul, Türkiye’s bustling metropolis, attracted the largest share of foreign visitors, totaling 1.3 million last month,” revealed the figures from the Culture and Tourism Ministry.
The northwestern province of Edirne, situated on the border with Bulgaria and Greece, welcomed 268,735 foreign tourists in February.
Following closely, the renowned resort city of Antalya on the Turkish Riviera recorded 222,720 foreign visitors during the same period.
Iranians emerged as the most significant group among foreign visitors to Türkiye, constituting 226,104 visitors, a doubling compared to the previous year.
Russians secured the second spot among nationalities of foreign visitors, with 203,073 arrivals in February, although marking an 11% decrease year-on-year.
Meanwhile, Germans and Bulgarians followed closely with 187,946 and 182,887 visitors, respectively.
