X objects to Türkiye’s decision as one leftist outlet’s account gets suspended
Türkiye has suspended the X account of the leftist news website Solcu Gazete, prompting a reaction from the platform formerly known as Twitter.
In a statement, X expressed its objection to the Turkish Information and Communication Technologies Authority’s decision to block the news organization.
The statement emphasized, “Providing a platform committed to defending everyone’s right to free speech is paramount at X. We believe this decision from the Turkish government is not only unlawful but also hinders millions of Turkish users from accessing news about their country.”
“We look forward to defending these principles through the legal system. X will always defend freedom of speech everywhere we operate,” the statement added.
