Israeli airstrike on school in Gaza claims 22 Palestinian lives, including women and children

At least 22 people, including 15 women and children, were killed and 80 injured in an Israeli attack on Sunday that targeted Al-Mufti school in Nuseirat, central Gaza. This school was housing thousands of displaced people.

A medical source at Al-Awda hospital confirmed that the bodies of 22 victims, along with dozens injured individuals, were brought to the facility following the strike.

Witnesses reported that the airstrike specifically hit the school, which has been a refuge for those displaced by ongoing violence.

Death toll rises in Gaza

Israel’s relentless offensive on Gaza has intensified following a cross-border attack by Hamas on October 7 last year, despite a U.N. Security Council resolution demanding an immediate cease-fire.

Local health authorities report that more than 42,200 people have been killed, predominantly women and children, with over 98,400 injured amid the violence.

The situation in Gaza is dire, with nearly the entire population displaced and facing severe shortages of food, clean water, and medicine due to an ongoing blockade. Furthermore, Israel is facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its actions in Gaza.
