Türkiye’s food and beverage industry reaches $12B amid economic challenges
The food and beverage industry in Türkiye continues to grow, despite the effects of inflation and rising costs that have impacted other industries.
According to the Independent Industrialists and Businessmen’s Association (MUSIAD) Service Sector Board’s report titled “New Century in Gastronomy: Change and Transformation in the Food and Beverage Sector,” the market size of the industry reached approximately $12 billion (₺415.55 billion) in 2023.
The report predicts that the market will expand significantly, reaching $22.4 billion by 2026.
Consumer demand drives Türkiye’s food and beverage industry
MUSIAD Service Sector Board Chairman Ali Tutuk stated that the sector is evolving rapidly, driven by consumer demand for healthier and more sustainable food options, particularly after the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The interest in functional foods, which strengthen the immune system, has surged during the post-pandemic period,” Tutuk explained. He added that organic, plant-based, and locally sourced foods are also experiencing strong growth, as consumers look for products that align with their health-conscious lifestyles.
Tutuk emphasized that these trends provide a major opportunity for local Turkish food producers. “Local food producers are gaining an advantage over larger restaurant chains by catering to these demands,” he said. He pointed out that small-scale businesses now have better access to a wider customer base, allowing them to compete more effectively in the marketplace.
