Türkiye becomes top choice for Europeans with exclusive winter travel experiences
European senior travelers are increasingly choosing Türkiye for their winter holidays, with specialized travel programs designed specifically for those over 65.
According to Anke Budde, President of the ASR Federal Germany Independent Travel Agencies Association, Türkiye is adapting to emerging winter travel trends across Western Europe.
“Travel agencies in Türkiye have developed unique travel packages for seniors, especially during the winter months,” Budde explained. These programs offer a range of experiences, placing Türkiye at the center of numerous trends that appeal to older European tourists.
Germany’s strong interest in Türkiye’s diverse winter tourism
Budde explained that Germany’s travelers are particularly drawn to Türkiye’s well-developed tourism infrastructure. The country offers an array of experiences, including health tourism, wellness vacations, sports tourism and cultural trips.
“Germany has taken notice of Türkiye’s winter tourism options, which range from family vacations to specialized tours focused on art and culture,” Budde emphasized.
Türkiye’s appeal is also growing among travelers who want to combine work and vacation. The “workation” concept, which allows professionals to work remotely while traveling, is gaining traction.
“The idea of workation in Türkiye is fantastic. The country’s hotels and tech infrastructure make it a great option, but more can be done to expand this trend,” Budde said.
Positive outlook for Türkiye’s prospects for winter travel 2025
As 2025 approaches, Budde remains optimistic about Türkiye’s tourism prospects, noting that the country’s marketing efforts are highly effective. “Türkiye’s promotions are excellent, and travel ticket sales reflect this success,” she pointed out.
However, Budde warned that global political and economic uncertainties could affect the sector, adding: “Factors like the U.S. elections and ongoing conflicts will influence our expectations. If these issues are resolved, we foresee a strong recovery for tourism in 2025.”
Budde also praised the dedication of Türkiye’s travel industry, stating, “Turkish travel agencies and airlines are incredibly hardworking. They fully commit to the industry, and we recognize and value their efforts.”
