World faces radical changes, irreversible shift in global order: Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized the emergence of a new global order that reflects the planet’s diversity, calling it a natural and irreversible process, during an international forum in Turkmenistan on Friday.

The event, held in Ashgabat, marked the 300th birth anniversary of renowned Turkmen poet and thinker Mahtumkulu Firaki.

Global changes and civilizational challenges

Addressing the forum titled “The Interconnection of Times and Civilizations,” Putin warned that the world faces unprecedented threats due to civilizational divides and interethnic and interreligious conflicts. He stated that international relations have entered a period of radical changes and that the new global order will better reflect the diversity of nations and civilizations across the planet.

“This is a natural and irreversible process,” Putin remarked, highlighting the rise of new economic, financial, and political centers in the East and South, which aim to preserve sovereignty and sociocultural identity while pursuing development paths aligned with their national interests.

Emphasis on multilateralism and sovereignty

Putin advocated for fair resource distribution, democratic international relations, and a multipolar world order. He also stressed the importance of respecting every nation’s sovereignty and development choices.

Putin reiterated Russia’s openness to dialogue on the parameters of the evolving world order, particularly through international associations like BRICS, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

Upcoming BRICS summit

Looking ahead, Putin noted that the BRICS Summit, scheduled for Oct. 22-24 in Kazan, Russia, will provide a platform to discuss further cooperation and the evolving international landscape.
