Police officers in Krefeld, a city in western Germany, shot and wounded a suspect following an attempted arson attack at the Cinemaxx theater on Thursday evening. A large-scale police operation is underway, and the moment officers opened fire on the suspect was captured on amateur video footage.

Authorities have cordoned off a significant area surrounding the cinema, which is located near Krefeld’s main station. According to the Essen police, who are assisting in the investigation, the suspect acted alone and did not injure anyone during the incident. The situation is now under control, and there is no ongoing threat to the public, officials confirmed.

The German newspaper Bild reported that the suspect had previously detonated incendiary devices at three separate locations before apparently attempting to enter the cinema. The extent of the suspect’s injuries has not been disclosed.

Police are continuing their investigation into the incident, but early indications suggest that the attack was isolated. A large number of officers remain on the scene, securing the area as the investigation unfolds.
