President Erdogan highlights Diyarbakir’s unity, reiterating Türkiye’s fight against terrorism
Erdogan holds a rally in Diyarbakir province, addresses the treatment of Kurdish voters, accusing the DEM Party of exploiting the will of Kurdish citizens for their own gain
In a powerful gathering of 70,000 supporters, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan delivered a spirited speech at an election rally in Diyarbakir province. He emphasized the city’s historical significance as the region’s gateway to Islam, reiterating Türkiye’s fight against terrorism.
President Erdogan highlighted the unity and resilience of the people of Diyarbakir, declaring: “No one has the power to break this brotherhood. We will forever stand by the dynamics of Diyarbakir.”
The president criticized the opposition for their performance in the previous May 28 elections, pointing out that 71% of the votes in Diyarbakir went to opposition parties.
He questioned the origins and destinations of funds, asking: “Where are these dollars and euros coming from, and where are they going? Which companies are sharing these funds?”
Addressing the treatment of Kurdish voters, Erdogan condemned the Democratic Society Congress (DEM) party, accusing them of exploiting the will of Kurdish citizens for their own gain.
Moving on to economic and developmental achievements, Erdogan highlighted the significant investments and reforms the AK Party government brought.
“We are fighting to rebuild the region from scratch,” he stated.
‘Solution is the dialogue’
Regarding national security, Erdogan assured the crowd that Türkiye remains vigilant against terrorism. “Those who seek to create the same brutality seen in recent events in Russia will find Diyarbakir as their first target,” he warned.
Emphasizing Türkiye’s efforts against Daesh and PKK terrorism, the Turkish president underscored the importance of protecting the country’s borders and ensuring security for all citizens.
“We are open to discussing everything with everyone, but our door is closed to those who play politics under the guidance of terrorist organizations. The party’s list of parliamentary members, mayoral candidates, council members and central executive committee cannot be determined by a terrorist organization,” Erdogan remarked.
“Serving the people is the essence of politics,” President Erdogan said, adding that dialogue and democratic solutions to the country’s issues are sought.
New era of cooperation and progress
Turning his attention to the upcoming elections, President Erdogan urged for a new era of cooperation and progress.
“Let’s open the doors to a new era together in the elections,” he urged the crowd.
President Erdogan also criticized the opposition for what he described as racism and discrimination.
“The opposition fails to protect the dignity of its own supporters. Our Kurdish brothers and sisters do not deserve this treatment,” he asserted.
In closing, Erdogan highlighted the extensive investments made in Diyarbakır over the past 21 years, totaling over TL 265 billion.
These include improvements in education with 6,677 new classrooms, a capacity of 6,140 beds in higher education dormitories and the establishment of 62 sports facilities.
As the rally concluded, President Erdogan introduced the party’s candidates for the upcoming elections and urged voters to support their vision for the continued development and prosperity of Diyarbakir and Türkiye.
