Türkiye has lifted its advertising ban on X (formerly known as Twitter) after the social media giant appointed a representative in the country, according to the country’s Official Gazette Friday.

This development follows X’s compliance with a 2021 social media law in Türkiye, which mandates that social media platforms with over a million daily accesses appoint local representatives.

Failure to meet this requirement previously subjected companies to various penalties, including monetary fines, advertising bans and bandwidth reductions.

In July 2023, Türkiye banned X’s advertising because it had not appointed a local representative.

Now that X has fulfilled this obligation, the ban has been officially removed.
