Türkiye condemns attack on UAE embassy residence in Khartoum, Sudan
Türkiye has condemned the recent attack on the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) embassy residence in Khartoum, Sudan characterizing the incident as a violation of international law and diplomatic norms.
Clear violation of international law
In a written statement, Türkiye’ Foreign Ministry expressed its strong disapproval of the attack on the UAE’s diplomatic residence, stating, “Türkiye considers and condemns the attack on the residence of the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Khartoum as a clear violation of international law and diplomatic norms.”
The statement highlighted the importance of respecting international law and urged all parties to adhere to it. The ministry underscored the need for protecting diplomatic missions under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
Call for respect of diplomatic immunity
Türkiye also reiterated its call for all parties to ensure the safety and security of diplomatic facilities, noting that diplomatic immunity must be upheld as mandated by international agreements.
The ministry emphasized, “Türkiye calls on all parties to respect international law and emphasizes the importance of protecting the inviolability of diplomatic missions in accordance with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.”
Continued support for peace in Sudan
Türkiye reaffirmed its commitment to supporting peace efforts in Sudan.
The statement concluded with Ankara pledging its continued efforts toward achieving a ceasefire and lasting peace in the country. “Türkiye will resolutely continue its efforts to achieve a ceasefire and establish lasting peace in Sudan,” the ministry stated.
