Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor and Republican People’s Party (CHP) candidate Ekrem Imamoglu cast his vote at Beylikduzu Emin Yukseloglu Girls’ Anatolian Imam Hatip High School.
Following the vote, Imamoglu said in a statement: “It is very important for the unity and solidarity of our country that the electoral process proceeds smoothly and the results respect the will of the people. Regardless of the election result and who our citizens vote for, this is very important for the unity of our country. I cast my vote with my family today. The vote is the sacred right of our citizens in a democracy. It is also essential to protect it as it is cast in the ballot box.
Of course, today is an emotional day for me, marking five years of labor. The true validation lies in the votes of our citizens. I hope they grant me this sense of redemption. If I have caused any pain or disappointment, I sincerely ask for forgiveness. Let us move forward with unity, believing that we have given our all.”
“As the election coordinator at our provincial headquarters, I will be closely monitoring the election this evening. I urge our colleagues at the ballot box to ensure that everyone’s rights are respected and that the process is fair and transparent,” he added.
