Turkish Coast Guard apprehended 36 irregular migrants in the Aegean Sea, authorities announced Friday.

According to a statement from the Turkish Coast Guard, coast guard units intercepted irregular immigrants traveling on jet skis and rubber boats near the Bodrum district in western Mugla province.

Türkiye has long served as a crucial transit point for asylum seekers seeking to enter Europe in search of safety and new opportunities, particularly those escaping conflict and persecution.

Ankara, along with global rights organizations, has consistently criticized Greece for its illegal practice of forcibly pushing back migrants, a violation of humanitarian principles and international law that places vulnerable migrants, including women and children, at risk.
