Israel’s General Security Service detains Sabah Abdul Salam, sister of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, on charges of ties with the group, citing documents and items found at her home

Israeli authorities detained Sabah Abdul Salam, the sister of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh, from her residence in the southern city of Be’er Sheva on Monday.

She faces charges of alleged ties with the Hamas movement.

According to Israel’s public broadcaster, police and the General Security Service (Shin Bet) apprehended the 57-year-old on grounds of her association with Hamas members, alleged sympathies toward the movement, and accusations of incitement.

Reportedly, authorities discovered documents, communication devices, and mobile phones at her residence, along with other items hinting at suspicions of her involvement in significant security breaches.

She will appear at the Beersheba Magistrate’s Court later today for a hearing on her detention.

Hamas has not yet responded to the broadcaster’s assertions regarding Salam’s arrest.
