UN Chief Condemns Strike On Iran Consulate In Syria
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned the strike on an Iranian consular annex building in Syria on Tuesday, as reported by his spokesman.
The Iranian mission to the UN denounced the Israeli airstrike as a “cowardly terrorist act” and a “blatant violation of the UN Charter,” calling for condemnation and action from the UN Security Council.
While Iran openly attributed the attack to Israel, the Tel Aviv administration remained silent.
Iran announced its intention to retaliate against the attack and held the United States accountable as well.
This assault occurs within the context of Israel’s prolonged offensive on the Gaza Strip, resulting in numerous Palestinian casualties. Concerns mount over the potential escalation of conflict, with fears that it could evolve into a regional war.
