FM Fidan holds bilateral meetings at NATO summit in Brussels
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan engaged in pivotal bilateral discussions with counterparts from Greece, Finland, South Korea, and Bulgaria at the NATO foreign ministers meeting in Brussels
Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan actively engaged in a series of bilateral meetings with counterparts from various countries on Wednesday during the sidelines of the NATO foreign ministers’ meeting in Brussels, Belgium.
Fidan met with Greek Foreign Minister Yorgos Yerapetritis to discuss a range of bilateral and regional issues. The talks included preparations for an upcoming visit to Türkiye by Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
In another meeting, Fidan and Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen exchanged views on counterterrorism efforts and security cooperation. They also delved into the implementation of the Türkiye-Finland-Sweden Trilateral Memorandum and assessed the current situation in the war-torn Gaza Strip. Both emphasized the urgency of resolving the conflict and expressed a desire to bolster bilateral cooperation, marking the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Turkey and Finland.
Moving on to his meeting with South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul, discussions centered around Asia-Pacific developments and the situation on the Korean Peninsula. The duo talked about various bilateral cooperation matters, highlighting the “Roadmap for Dynamic Türkiye-Korea Relations” signed in July 2023. The sectors of defense industry, economy, and energy were particularly emphasized.
Additionally, Fidan met with Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mariya Gabriel to discuss cooperation between the two countries.
The NATO foreign ministers’ meeting in Brussels will last two days and aim to address the situation in Ukraine, support for Kyiv, and developments in the Indo-Pacific region. Fidan’s engagements reflect Türkiye’s active diplomatic role in various global and regional issues.
