Main opposition leader Ozgur Ozel to present Ankara Declaration in US

Republican People’s Party (CHP) Chair Ozgur Ozel will travel to the U.S. next week for the Socialist International meeting, where he will present the “Ankara Declaration” prepared during his party’s Second Century Transformation Congress.

CHP officials stated that the declaration addresses various issues from geopolitical tensions to climate concerns. Ozel will highlight the need for social democratic and left-wing parties to adopt a more solidarity-driven stance against global economic and political crises. He is also expected to emphasize the need for leftist parties to unite in response to the rising right-wing movements in Europe.

The declaration will be signed by representatives of Socialist International member countries and presented to the United Nations.

Additionally, Ozel is expected to commemorate Aysenur Ezgi Eygi, who was killed by Israeli forces in the West Bank.
