Israeli attacks on Hezbollah could lead to regional war
Israel carried out a new cyberattack in Beirut on Wednesday, targeting radios and causing numerous deaths and injuries. The explosions have struck fear among the public and marked a significant tactical victory for Israel, revealing its ability to compromise Hezbollah’s communication network. The incident increases the risk of a full-scale regional conflict.
Hezbollah has announced plans for retaliation, potentially escalating the conflict. Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdullah Bou Habib warned that Israel’s actions could plunge the region into a more intense cycle of violence.
“This incident will widen the focus of Israel’s war with Lebanon and plunge the region into a cycle of greater violence,” Habib said in a statement.
A surge in attacks by Houthi rebels in Yemen and Shia militias in Iraq against the United States and Israel forces is anticipated, with concerns that this could also impact cease-fire efforts in Gaza.
The response from Iran, whose ambassador was injured, remains under scrutiny.
