The number of paid employees in Türkiye increased by 3.4% in July 2024 compared to the same month in 2023, according to the latest official data by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat).

The sectors included in this increase are industry, construction, and trade and services. The total number of paid employees rose from 15.37 million in July 2023 to 15.89 million in July 2024.

Sector-specific changes

Breaking down by sector, the number of paid employees in the industrial sector remained steady year-on-year.

However, there were significant gains in the construction and trade and services sectors, with the construction sector experiencing an 8.6% increase and the trade and services sector seeing a 4.3% rise annually.

Monthly growth in paid employees

On a month-to-month basis, the number of paid employees grew by 0.7% in July 2024 compared to June 2024. The industrial sector showed a 0.9% increase, while the construction sector grew by 1% and the trade and services sector by 0.6%.
