Palestinian President Abbas calls activist Eygi ‘courageous daughter of Palestine, Türkiye’
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas spoke by phone with Mehmet Suat Eygi, the father of Aysenur Ezgi Eygi, a Turkish-Ameican activist fatally shot by Israeli soldiers in the occupied West Bank.
‘Courageous daughter of Palestine, Türkiye’
Palestinian President Abbas extended his condolences to Eygi’s family, calling her “a courageous daughter of both Palestine and Türkiye, martyred at the hands of the Israeli occupation.”
He also referred to Eygi as “a genuine symbol of solidarity between the Turkish and Palestinian peoples.”
In tribute to her activism, Palestinian President Abbas announced that the “Jerusalem Star Medal” would be awarded in Eygi’s honor. Eygi was buried in Türkiye’s Aydin following her death.
