Around 90 journalists in Germany have called for the protection of their colleagues in Palestine and international media access to Gaza, according to a statement released on the newly launched website, “Protect Journalists in Gaza.”

The statement underscores the need to ensure the safety of journalists in Palestine and warns against accepting statements from conflicting parties without proper scrutiny.

It also highlights the importance of diverse sources and calls for equal cooperation with Palestinian journalists.

The statement highlighted the severe dangers faced by journalists in Gaza, noting that 140 media workers have been killed in Israeli attacks.

It condemned these attacks as war crimes, accusing the Israeli military of deliberately targeting marked press members.

The statement also criticized the prolonged media blackout in Gaza, emphasizing that no other conflict zone has been so extensively closed off to journalists.

It called on mainstream media to exercise caution and criticized German outlets for favoring Israeli sources in their coverage.
