US President Biden says Putin will not prevail in war with Ukraine
U.S. President Joe Biden stated on Friday that Russian President Vladimir Putin will not prevail in his war with Ukraine.
“The United States is committed to standing with you to help Ukraine as it defends against Russia’s onslaught of aggression. It’s clear that Putin will not prevail in this war. The people of Ukraine will prevail,” Biden said during a White House meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
Biden also mentioned that he and Starmer would discuss efforts to secure a deal in the Middle East, including the release of hostages, an immediate cease-fire, and increasing humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
They will also address issues related to the Indo-Pacific, highlighting the importance of the AUKUS partnership with Australia and the U.K.
Starmer described the coming weeks and months as “crucial” for Ukraine, emphasizing the importance of supporting Ukraine in this “vital war of freedom.”
He expressed eagerness to discuss not only the Middle East but also the broader strategy behind their global engagements.
This meeting marks Starmer’s second visit to the White House as prime minister. Biden’s term as president is set to end next January.
