The increasing likelihood of former U.S. President Trump’s victory in the U.S. elections is putting added pressure on Ukraine

The possibility of former President Donald Trump emerging victorious as the Republican nominee in the November presidential elections in the United States and triumphing over the incumbent President Joe Biden is raising apprehensions within Ukraine.

Trump, confident in his ability to swiftly end the conflict in Ukraine, will compel Kyiv to make concessions.

Emphasizing his amicable rapport with Russian President Vladimir Putin on numerous occasions, Trump’s peace initiative entails Kyiv renouncing control over the occupied Crimea and Donbass.

During a campaign rally on Sunday, Trump stated, “For the conflict in Ukraine to cease, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy must cede Crimea and Donbass to the Russians.”

While it is expected that Trump will pressure Ukraine into an agreement aligning with Russia’s interests, European Union nations, convinced of Russia’s threat to European security, openly express their concerns regarding Trump’s electoral prospects.
