Türkiye eliminates terrorist group PKK/KCK’s alleged Mahmur Camp commander

Turkish intelligence has eliminated Adil Mardin, codenamed Azad Akinci, the alleged general commander of the terrorist group PKK/KCK Mahmur Camp, with an operation carried out in Mahmur, Iraq.

Turkish intelligence continues its cross-border operations.

Akinci, who was on the red category of the list of wanted terrorists, was a target for the National Intelligence Organization (MIT).

Turkish intelligence identified Akinci’s location through sources and tracked him to Mahmur, located 160 kilometres (99.4 miles) deep inside Iraq’s borders.

At the most opportune moment, Akinci was eliminated with a precise operation.

In 2006, Akinci was involved in the Ozgur Liseli Genclik Deenegi organization under PKK/KCK influence.

In 2008, he was arrested for charges including “Committing Crimes on Behalf of a Terrorist Organization, Engaging in Activities on Behalf of a Terrorist Organization, and Propagandizing for a Terrorist Organization.”

That same year, he participated in a hunger strike at Batman Closed Prison with other members of the organization.

By December 2008, he was responsible for the Siirt Yurtsever Devrimci Genclik. In 2009, he transitioned to the so-called Serhat area. By 2011, he was responsible for the Yurtsever Devrimci Genclik Merkezi in Türkiye.

From 2014, he took on the role of logistics coordinator in Metina.

In 2016, Akinci participated in the PKK/KCK Youth Congress held in Mahmur. In 2017, he served as a so-called responsible member of the KCR (Eastern Kurdistan Youth Community) in Iran.

Since 2023, he had been operating as the so-called Secretary General of PKK/KCK Mahmur Camp.
