Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya reported that “Mercek-25” operations targeting arms traffickers and individuals carrying unlicensed weapons in 81 provinces resulted in legal action against 2,459 suspects and the seizure of 2,738 firearms.

In a statement on social media, Yerlikaya noted that provincial gendarmerie commands and police departments conducted raids against arms traffickers and those possessing unlicensed weapons. The operations, which took place in homes, workplaces, public areas, and roadside searches, led to the seizure of 2,738 unlicensed firearms.

“We will continue to apprehend those obtaining unlicensed weapons and bring them to justice. With your prayers and support, our fight against crime syndicates seeking to impose their own dark order will continue unabated,” Yerlikaya said, praising the governors, district governors and the gendarmerie and police forces involved in the operations.
