Gaziantep’s traditional sweet ‘kombe’ continues sale for centuries on Eid
Varieties of Turkish delicacy including kombe with olive oil, tahini, poppy seed, pistachio and walnut hit bakeries again on this Eid
Kombe tradition, one of the special Eid delights in Türkiye’s Gaziantep Province, has existed for over a century now.
Kombe, which used to be produced in homes until the morning, is now made in pita bakeries.
Hasan Pamuk, a bakery owner in the district, told Anadolu Agency (AA) correspondent that they could not produce the Eid delight last year due to the earthquake.
Explaining that they continue traditional production, Pamuk maintained that they also offer kombe varieties with olive oil, tahini, poppy seed, pistachio and walnut for sale to its customers especially on Eid.
Stating that there are demands from Türkiye and abroad, Pamuk noted that kombe can last for a long time without getting stale.
