Türkiye enhances practical training capacity of health vocational school in Senegal

Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) has taken significant steps to boost the practical training capacity of the Health Vocational School (EMPS) under the Dakar Municipality in Senegal by providing essential equipment and medical supplies.

In line to enhance the educational environment, TIKA installed 20 new computers and supplied a laser printer to the school’s library, ensuring that students have better access to resources for their research in the healthcare field.

To further improve the visual education of midwifery and nursing students, TIKA also provided five video projectors for classroom use.

The ceremony celebrating the donation of this equipment was attended by notable figures, including Türkiye’s Ambassador to Dakar, Nur Sagman, Dakar Mayor Barthelemy Dias, Dakar Municipality Secretary-General Mouhamed Diop, and the Health Vocational School Director, Rokhaya Seck.

Established in 2006, the health vocational school offers three years of free education to around 200 midwifery and nursing students annually, primarily targeting those from financially disadvantaged backgrounds.

Currently, 169 female and 33 male students are enrolled in the program.

Upon graduation, these students are assessed by the Ministry of Health to address the country’s healthcare staffing needs.

This initiative by TIKA not only strengthens Senegal’s healthcare workforce but also underscores Türkiye’s ongoing commitment to supporting education and healthcare development in Africa.
