Turkish airstrikes target 21 terrorist positions in northern Iraq
The Turkish Ministry of National Defense announced the destruction of 21 terrorist targets during airstrikes in northern Iraq’s Metina, Gara, Hakurk and Kandil regions.
The operation aimed to eliminate PKK/KCK and other terrorist elements, preventing attacks on civilians and security forces, while ensuring border security.
The KCK is the umbrella organization for the PKK terrorist group and its Syrian and Iranian offshoots.
According to the ministry, the strikes targeted caves, bunkers and shelters used by the terrorist group, including locations where high-ranking members were present.
The operation employed a significant amount of domestically produced munitions, with numerous terrorists reportedly eliminated.
The ministry stressed that all necessary precautions were taken to safeguard civilians, friendly forces, historical and cultural sites, and the environment during the operation.
The Turkish Armed Forces remain committed to combating terrorism until all threats are fully eredicated.
